Head Teacher Welcome
A message from our Head Teacher, Mrs A K Dhesi
Welcome to Lozells Primary School
Walking through the doors of Lozells Primary School each morning, I am reminded of something truly special — the energy, curiosity and warmth that our children bring with them every single day. It is a privilege and an honour to lead this school, and I could not be prouder of the community we have built together.
Lozells is more than a school. It is a place where every child is known, valued and celebrated for who they are. We serve one of Birmingham's most richly diverse communities, and we believe that this diversity is not just something we welcome. It is one of our greatest strengths. The languages, cultures, stories and experiences our children bring through our doors every day make us richer as a school and as a community.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful belief: that where you come from should never define where you can go. Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and carefully crafted to open doors for every child. It is brought to life through six inspirational curriculum drivers: Emma Raducanu, Malala Yousafzai, Marcus Rashford, Greta Thunberg, Marley Dias and Dame Sarah Storey, each chosen to show our pupils that resilience, courage and determination can take you anywhere. Representation matters deeply here. We want every child to look at what they learn and who they learn about, and to see themselves reflected back.
We nurture the whole child. Academic ambition goes hand in hand with wellbeing, character and confidence. We want children to leave Lozells not only with strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, but with a love of learning, a sense of who they are and the self-belief to chase their dreams.
None of this happens without partnership. The relationships we have with our families and wider community are something we treasure deeply. When school and home work together, our children thrive and that collaborative spirit is something I am committed to strengthening every year.
I am endlessly proud of our pupils, our staff and the culture of kindness, ambition and respect we have created here. If you are new to our community, I warmly welcome you. If you are already part of the Lozells family, thank you for your trust, your support and your belief in what we are building together.
We look forward to welcoming you.
